July 1st, 2019 Fishing Report
July 1, 2019
Fishing on Pelican Lake in Orr, MN has been fantastic so far this 2019 Season. We have seen a nice variety of sizes and species being caught from all over the lake!
The Water temperature rose gradually to a comfortable 76 degrees through the month of June which made for well timed bug hatches, active fish spawning and limited algae growth. Visibility is still excellent down to 6 feet deep.
Live bait worked well with crappie minnows enticing crappies in early June and walleyes favoring leeches and night crawlers. Senko worms are still the preferred bait for Bass and Northern Pike are hammering spoons and spinner baits. Simple is better.
No Walleyes or Northern Pike yet over 10lbs at Cabin O’ Pines, but the season still has a long way to go.
Don’t forget! There is a fishing tournament going on Pelican Lake. First Prize in three categories: Largest Walleye, Northern Pike and Largemouth Bass. Just download Fish Donkey on your phone and get to entering!
Happy Fishing!
