General Information
Cabin O' Pines Resort offers a unique blend of relaxation and adventure on the beautiful shores of Pelican Lake in Northern Minnesota. Whether you're a fishing enthusiast, a nature lover, or just looking for a peaceful getaway, we provide:

We are located at 4378 Pelican Rd, Orr, MN 55771, on the shores of Pelican Lake in Northern Minnesota.
We offer a variety of options to suit different styles of travel:
- Cabins: Fully furnished with kitchens, bathrooms, and cozy living areas.
- Yurts: A unique glamping experience with essential amenities.
- Campsites: For tents and RVs, with access to resort amenities.
- Seasonal Campsites: Available from May Fishing Opener to October 1st, offering long-term camping for those who want to stay the season.

Yes! We offer resort-wide WiFi access. Please note that speeds may be limited due to our remote location.
Yes! Our Camp Store offers live bait, ice, tackle, snacks, drinks, light groceries, gifts, and Cabin O’ Pines merchandise.

Best Seasons to Visit, Weather & Northern Lights
- Spring (April - June): Ideal for walleye and crappie fishing, with mild temperatures and active wildlife. Spring is also a great time for birdwatching as migratory birds return to the area.
- Summer (July - August): Great for family vacations, swimming, and bass fishing, with long daylight hours. This is also the peak season for boating, kayaking, and hiking nearby trails.
- Fall (September - November): Known for stunning fall colors, hunting opportunities, and excellent northern pike and walleye fishing. Cooler temperatures make this a perfect time for hiking, photography, and enjoying the crisp autumn air.
- Winter (December - March): A prime season for ice fishing, snowmobiling, and winter cabin getaways. Snow-covered landscapes make for great cross-country skiing and snowshoeing adventures.
- Spring: 40°F - 70°F (4°C - 21°C) – A mix of warm days and cool nights, with occasional rain showers.
- Summer: 60°F - 85°F (15°C - 29°C) – Warm, perfect for boating and outdoor activities.
- Fall: 30°F - 65°F (-1°C - 18°C) – Crisp, with vibrant foliage and excellent conditions for hunting and fishing.
- Winter: -20°F - 30°F (-29°C - -1°C) – Snowy and cold, creating ideal conditions for ice fishing and snowmobiling.
Yes! Our remote location, far from city lights, makes it an excellent spot for Northern Lights viewing. The best time to catch this natural phenomenon is September through April, especially on clear, dark nights.

Fishing & Boat Rentals
Pelican Lake is home to walleye, northern pike, crappie, bluegill, perch, largemouth & smallmouth bass.
Yes! Minnesota law requires a valid fishing license. You can purchase one online at www.dnr.state.mn.us/licenses/online-sales or at Norman’s One Stop in Orr, MN.
One of the best spots to fish is right off the main dock at Cabin O’ Pines. Many guests have great success fishing for a variety of species without even needing a boat!
The best time to visit for fishing depends on your target species. Spring (April-June) is great for walleye and crappie, while summer (July-August) offers excellent bass fishing on Pelican Lake.
Pelican Lake hosts a Bass Fishing Tournament (Sept 1-30) and a Walleye Fishing Tournament (Fishing Opener - May 31st), organized by the Pelican Lake Resort Association. Check our Facebook page for updates.
Yes! Many of our guests plan their stays around tournaments. Contact us for details on upcoming events and registration.
Yes! We offer fishing boats and pontoons for rent. Visit our Boat Rentals page for details.
Docking & Marina
Yes! We offer private docking for $20/day or $100/week. Our 500+ feet of docks have power pedestals for charging batteries. Please ensure your boat is cleaned and free of invasive species before entering the lake.
Yes! We have a private boat launch on-site for our guests. Additionally, there is a public boat launch in Orr for those who need it.
Yes! We have a fully equipped fish cleaning house for guests.
Resort & Water Activities
Yes! We have a sandy swimming beach with shallow water, a stainless waterslide, a water trampoline, and a blob.
Guests can enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, and pedal boating—all free for guests! Life jackets are required.
Yes! Our wood-burning sauna is available for private 30-minute sessions. Guests can sign up at the office for a time that suits them.
Yes! The area around Pelican Lake and Orr, MN, offers several scenic hiking trails. Guests can explore Echo Lake Trail, Vermilion Falls Trail, and trails within Voyageurs National Park, all within a short drive from the resort. Ice Fishing & Winter Activities
Pelican Lake is known for consistent ice conditions and excellent fishing opportunities. Anglers from across Northern Minnesota visit for walleye, northern pike, and crappie, which are particularly active under the ice.
Yes! Cabin O’ Pines provides access to Pelican Lake which then leads to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails, connecting to the extensive Voyageur and Arrowhead Trail systems. This makes it an ideal stop for winter adventure seekers.
While we do not offer rentals, we can recommend trusted local outfitters that provide heated fish houses, snowmobiles, and guided winter fishing trips.
ATV Trails & Off-Roading
The Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area is one of the best ATV trail networks in Minnesota, offering a mix of scenic routes and rugged terrain. Guests can ride directly from the resort to nearby trails.
Guests can also explore the Voyageur Country ATV Trail, a well-maintained network connecting Orr and other Northern Minnesota towns.
Minnesota law requires ATV registration, and some trails may have seasonal restrictions. Be sure to check local trail maps and regulations before heading out.
Seasonal Camping
Seasonal camping lets you rent a long-term campsite for the entire season, so you can enjoy the great outdoors without the hassle of setting up and tearing down each time you visit. Your RV or camper stays on-site even when you're away, making weekend getaways easy.
Our seasonal campsites open with the Minnesota Fishing Opener in May and run through October 1st. While camping ends in October, you’re welcome to leave your setup year-round so you can return next season without having to set up again.
Yes! We have big-rig-friendly seasonal campsites that can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 45 feet long.
Yes! Friends and family are welcome to visit. There are four overnight persons and two day guests included with each site. Any additional guests may be subject to an additional fee.
No, once you rent a seasonal site, it’s yours for the entire season! Whether you stay every weekend or visit occasionally, your site is reserved just for you.
Yes! We offer seasonal dock rentals, allowing you to keep your boat on-site for easy access to Pelican Lake all season long.
Yes, our seasonal campground is pet-friendly! We just ask that pets stay on a leash and are cleaned up after to ensure a great experience for all guests.
Yes! Our seasonal campsites include full hookups, providing electricity, water, and sewer for your convenience. This ensures a comfortable and hassle-free stay throughout the camping season.
Yes! We strongly recommend winterizing your camper, as we are located in Northern Minnesota, where winter temperatures can drop well below freezing. This includes draining water lines, adding RV antifreeze, and securing your setup for heavy snow and cold conditions. While our campground is closed for camping after October 1st, you can leave your RV on-site year-round, making spring setup much easier.
Seasonal sites are limited and in high demand. If there are no current openings, we recommend joining our waitlist.

EV Charging Station
Yes! Cabin O’ Pines offers one of the only EV charging station in the region, making it an essential stop for electric vehicle travelers in Northern Minnesota. Charging is free for guests, and outside visitors can charge for a fee.
We recommend reserving charging access in advance during peak travel seasons.
Pet Policy
Yes! We have three pet-friendly cabins: Hill Top, Pine Cone, and White Pine. The rest of our cabins are pet-free for allergy-sensitive guests. Pet fees apply.
Amenities: Firewood, WiFi, & More
Yes, but only in designated fire rings. Fires must be attended at all times and put out by 11:00 PM.
Yes! Firewood is available for purchase on-site. Due to environmental regulations, outside firewood is NOT permitted.
Yes! We offer resort-wide WiFi access so guests can stay connected. Please note that due to our remote location, speeds may be limited, and streaming services may not always be available.
In addition to our fishing boat and pontoon rentals, we offer:

Yes! Cabin O’ Pines Resort is ideal for weddings, family reunions, corporate retreats, and large group getaways. We can block off multiple cabins, weekly campsites, and seasonal camping spots to accommodate your group. Whether you're planning a lakefront wedding, multi-generational family vacation, or a fishing trip with friends, our resort offers a private, scenic setting with plenty of space to gather.
Yes! Weddings have been hosted here—including our own! While we don’t offer formal wedding planning services, we can help coordinate lodging for your wedding party and guests. Our best time for weddings is September, when the weather is cool, the fall colors start to emerge, and the lake provides a breathtaking backdrop.

Payment, Cancellation Policy & Contact Information
A 50% deposit is required to secure your reservation. Cancellations are handled on a case-by-case basis—please notify us as soon as possible for any changes.
Yes! Guests booking online can opt for Travel Protection, which provides up to 100% reimbursement of your booking total (minus the Travel Protection fee) if an eligible event prevents you from attending. Terms and conditions apply.
