Pelican Lake Ice Fishing Report

December 5, 2021

Happy holidays to everyone! We are hoping you are staying warm and healthy and excited for the winter sports season!

With approximately 8 inches of ice on Pelican Lake we are ready to see if the big fish are biting. The months of December and January are historically the most active for walleyes and northern pike on Pelican Lake. Spear fishing is especially productive with clear water and thinner ice to saw through.

High winds have created several ridges and cracks on the lake so please be extra careful now that some of that protruding ice is blanketed by snow. As the season goes on, some ridges disappear beneath the snow while other ridges continue to push and grow.

This picture was taken yesterday. The lake received 6-8 inches of snow today as this report is being written.
